Clyde Bergemann Ltd highly commended at the UK’s 2010 Best Factory Awards
Scotland/UK, October 2010
In September 2010, Clyde Bergemann Power Group’s Scottish subsidiary (CBS) based in Glasgow received recognition at the 2010 Best Factory Awards ceremony in London. CBS received notification that they had been shortlisted with 16 other companies in the UK. At the ceremony, CBS were awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ plaque for continuous improvement and innovation as well as continued investment in employees.
CBS manufactures on-load cleaning technology for heat transfer surfaces for the global petrochemical and marine markets as well as the UK power, waste-to-energy and biomass markets. The technology is designed to improve plant efficiency and reduce operating costs as well as minimise harmful emissions.
The award programme has been running for 19 years by Cranfield School of Management in partnership with the magazine Works Management and is aimed at rewarding manufacturing excellence in the UK. An extremely high number of companies applied for the awards and eventually 17 companies were shortlisted, only two of which were based in Scotland.
Michael Peoples commented: “The team in Glasgow has responded well to the challenges of not only a number of external competitive market pressures, but that of a global economic meltdown – how we have responded and how we have improved the overall effectiveness of our business is recognised by this award and provides a very clear benchmark on how we will continue our drive to our Clyde Bergemann excellence programme”.
