Retractable Sootblowers
Clyde Bergemann has developed a wide range of retractable sootblowers for cleaning any type of heating surface, from utility boilers with travels up to 60' in length to small industrial or package type boilers that require very short travel units. In addition, we have a top quality line of sootblowers that has been specifically designed for the pulp and paper industry.

Model US

The Utility Service (US) sootblower is the most severe duty retractable sootblower that money can buy in the power industry today. This sootblower incorporates multiple crucial design improvements over all competitive models:

  • ultimate long-term performance: the hot dip galvanized canopy minimizes corrosion
  • balanced and symmetrical drive system: the carriage which drives the lance of the sootblower into the boiler is positioned in the exact center of the canopy. By balancing the forces acting on the sootblower, wear and tear on the whole system is reduced over all competitive imbalanced designs
  • modular carriage: the carriage consists of a lower and upper part with the gearbox and the lance hub separated. This reduces heat damage to the gearbox oil, reducing oil leaks. It also makes long-term repairs a relative breeze: it takes about 30 minutes to replace a gearbox on the sootblower - about one day for competitive designs! And you don't need to remove the lance or feed tube
  • adjustable sootblower pressure: all our sootblowers give operators the ability to change pressures at the sootbower while the sootblower is running
Model USX Long Retractable
The model USX sootblower is based off of the US design for Utility boilers. However, the travels on this unit range from 35' to 60' in length. As a result, certain design changes have been incorporated to account for the additional lengths. The principle of operation is the same. One of the unique components to this sootblower is the droop correction front plate that utilizes a lance support roller arrangement that rotates with the lance angle.

Model RKS
Model RKS is very cost-effective and typically used for lesser duty applications, but sharing many of the same features of the Model US. The model RKS sootblower is essentially a scaled down version of the US sootblower, meaning that the envelope that it requires, is slightly smaller. The travels for this unit range up to 30' in length. It also, utilizes a balanced carriage design with a galvanized housing.

Model RS
Recovery Service (RS) sootblowers is another version of US sootblower to serve recovery boilers. It is designed from the ground up for the toughest environments.

Model T20E

The model T20E sootblower is a chain driven, light duty retract utilized in applications where travels do not exceed 20' in length. These sootblowers are generally utilized in industrial applications, such as those seen in oil fired heaters or package boilers. They are commonly used in oil refineries. This blower uses a formed and painted carbon steel housing as its platform. It also has a balanced carriage design.

TEH Type Air Heater Cleaners
The TEH type air heater cleaner is designed to clean regenerative Air Heaters with retractable type sootblower. The standard TEH-Regenerative Style Non-Rotating Air Heater Cleaner is similar to the T20E Retractable except the rotary gearingis eliminated from the travelling carriage and is replaced with a locking device to preventlance rotation.
