Waste to Energy

Waste to Energy Plants

Many refuse boiler owners and operators are experiencing difficult and high fouling rates which were not fully anticipated during the planning stage of the cleaning system design. This places unexpected demands on the existing cleaning systems which sometimes are unable to meet the demands, and hence the process can be affected. Rising gas path temperatures leads to a reduction in run-time between outages and reduces the boiler’s ability to process as much waste as might otherwise be possible. Further, elevated gas path temperatures can lead to premature superheater corrosion, an effect enhanced by the constituents often founds in the refuse.

Modernization of the cleaning system, for example using SmartCannon™ technology, can provide unexpected benefits. Similar to power boilers, waste-to-energy plant have achieved NOx reduction, FEGT reduction as well as other numerous benefits.

As for power boilers, retractable sootblowers are used to control fouling in the convection pass of the boiler.
