The ongoing necessity to reduce greenhouse gases, which are causing Climate Change world wide, is putting major pressure on power producers, burning the likes of coal and oil, to reduce emissions from their power stations. As a result of the concerns of global atmosphere conditions, European legislation has been put into force to ensure emissions are reduced considerably over the next few years and the UK already has a ‘Kyoto Protocol’ commitment to reduce these by 12.5% below 1990 levels by 2008-2012 (Energy White Paper).
Also, with the ever increasing need for modernisation of ageing UK coal-fired power stations, Clyde Bergemann would like to assist UK power producers with the process of increasing plant efficiency, reducing costs and reducing emissions into the atmosphere. The Boiler Cleaning Technology Forum presented information on advanced technology that can help to do so.
As world leading manufacturers of on-load boiler cleaning technology and ash handling technology Clyde Bergemann and Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling decided to host the first in a series of Boiler Cleaning Technology Forums in the UK. The Forum was held at the Hilton Leeds Garforth Hotel, Leeds on Thursday 19th May and welcomed over 30 guests from the UK Power Industry. The days events included presentations from three Clyde Bergemann companies: Clyde Bergemann Ltd – Glasgow, Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling – Doncaster and Clyde Bergemann GmbH – Germany. Guest speaker, Joachim Müller, of RWE Weisweiler in Germany also presented facts and figures based on their experience of Clyde Bergemann boiler cleaning technology.
During the complimentary buffet lunch at the hotel, attendees networked and discussed issues concerning their plants. A great deal of positive feedback was received regarding the information presented that morning and delegates were especially complimentary on the product animations which visualised the effectiveness of the products.
