Summary of publication

Current developments during the last 2 years !

Preserving and safe cleaning by fully automatic cleaning system

  • SMART CANNON™:
for major boiler spaces and selective cleaning of individual surfaces
  • SCS 200:
for minor boiler spaces and cleaning of platen heating surfaces

Results

    • Improvement of heat absorption in radiation part
    • Safe reduction of flue gas temperature upstream of first superheater to <650°C
    • Clear reduction of corrosion rates at superheater
    • Extension of operation period by up to 3 times compared with the former situation

Novelties

Meanwhile more than 30 refuse incineration boilers have successfully been equipped with the new Clyde Bergemann SCS cleaning system.

New solutions were presented:

  1. "Mobile cleaning system" cleaning as a service
  2. Test cleaning

Most recent application experience

1. RIP in Italy (3 incineration lines)
    Results achieved:

  • Reduction of flue gas temperature upstream of superheater by 100° (from 670°C to 570°C)
  • Increase of production capacity by 10% (von 90% auf 100%)
  • Increase of operation period to 8.000 operating hours.

2. Twence Afvalverwerking, Hengelo The Netherlands (2 incineration lines)
Comparison of different clean in methods:

  • Rapping devise on membrane wall - not successful
  • Spray cleaning - problems with cleaning efficiency, necessary cleaning intervals become increasingly shorter
  • Automatic cleaning system comprised SMART CANNON™ and SCS
    • Reduction of corrosion rate by more than 30%
    • Halving of outage frequency
    • Controller plant operation with flue gas temperature upstream of superheater of <650°C
    • Extension of operation period to 8.000 operation hours.
