Cleaning of refuse incineration boilers Difficult and high fouling rates not expected at the planning stage of waste-to-energy plants placed high demands on the existing cleaning systems in recent years. On the basis of the acquired knowledge new and advanced cleaning methods were developed which considerably reduce the undesired downtimes with cost-intensive manual cleaning of the boiler plants. The considerable extension of the boiler operating periods is achieved by the application of cleaning systems which operate with water as the blowing agent.
The solution The technology of Water Cannon (SMART Cannon) – characterised by individually adjustable and flexible blowing figures – is particularly suited for cleaning combustion chambers. It enables effective cleaning with a small number of blowers and low operating costs.
If conventional Sootblowers are installed, it is unavoidable to use air or superheated steam as the blowing agent. (Wet and moist steam causes caking of the fouling so that manual cleaning cannot be avoided).
Their advantages
- Extension of operating periods
- Reduction of maintenance costs and erosion
- Optimally clean heating surfaces
